CHARLIE DOUGHERTY: Charlie
began working in the commercial construction industry
at an early age, gaining experience throughout high school
and college with a prominent DC area commercial general
contractor. The skills he learned during this time proved
invaluable when he began a recruiting career that focused
on the construction, skilled trades, and engineering positions
at a multi-billion dollar, privately-owned staffing firm.
A subsequent position as Senior Recruiter with one of
the largest Building Services and Building Operations
companies in the DC region taught him the complexities
of staffing large government projects on short notice,
and honed his responsibilities in full life-cycle recruiting.
Time spent in each industry has afforded
Charlie a rare perspective on both corporate staffing
challenges and the needs of the general labor force, and
has provided the experience necessary to effectively address
today’s recruiting obstacles. As a strategic business
partner to many corporate operations teams, Charlie’s
recruiting tenacity, background, and proficiency have
earned him numerous accolades and he has consistently
been recognized as a top performer. His work in corporate
HR and his training to acquire a Professional in Human
Resources (PHR) certification have given him a clear view
of the discrepancies between a company’s staffing
needs and the actual services it receives from traditional
recruitment firms.
In Spring 2004, Charlie and former recruiting
colleague, Joe Rozengota, launched Cornerstone Recruiting
– a company that firmly believes in its responsibilities
as an extension of each client's team and does not stand
by as a typical secondhand vendor. Cornerstone offers
customized recruiting solutions and targets working professionals
with excellent work histories that a client would not
be able to reach through mainstream recruiting channels.
Charlie and Joe have built Cornerstone Recruiting around
a deep desire to excel where other staffing firms fall
short.
As leader of Cornerstone’s recruiting
strategies, Charlie focuses on the hiring, training and
managing of recruiters, and often takes the lead recruiting
role for high-level executive searches. He is instrumental
in developing innovative marketing strategies that target
passive job seekers, and manages day-to-day business operations.
His personal time is spent with his wife
and three daughters, and he enjoys competitive bass fishing
and being outdoors.
JOSEPH ROZENGOTA: After
serving several years in the United States Marine Corps,
Joe transitioned into the civilian workforce with a recruiting
position for the nation’s largest privately-owned
staffing firm. This multi-billion dollar company provided
an opportunity to learn about the intricacies and staffing
challenges in the construction and engineering fields,
and helped Joe develop his sales, marketing, and management
skills. It also ignited a passion for helping companies
find the “ideal employee.”
In order to expand his knowledge of different
industries, Joe left staffing to work with a design and
packaging company as a Regional Sales Manager. His business
management ingenuity increased, and helped him initiate
some resourceful changes in the company’s software
implementation and product management procedures. This
led to improved earnings and the need for an additional
office to support sales growth.
Joe moved to a National Sales Manager position
with a prominent marketing company, and continued to hone
his sales and marketing skills. He worked with all levels
of clientele at Fortune 500 and non-profit organizations
to develop targeted marketing strategies geared towards
increasing new customer base and donor acquisitions. Joe
realized the tremendous impact that strategic marketing
had on business profitability, and saw a correlation between
marketing tactics that focus on specific industries and
clientele, and efficient and effective recruiting.
Joe and former recruiting colleague, Charlie
Daugherty, discussed these advantages and in Spring 2004,
they launched Cornerstone Recruiting – a company
that stands behind its responsibility as an extension
of each client’s team, and not a typical secondhand

At Cornerstone, Joe oversees sales and business
development, as well as efforts to cultivate client relationships.
His focus on creative marketing tactics that improve Cornerstone’s
talent acquisition is also applied to his coaching consultations
with clients to help them improve their staffing practices
and procedures. Since Cornerstone recruits to specific
market, and specialized professionals, the company’s
marketing efforts must be strategic and remain in sync
with the company’s overall mission. Joe also trains,
mentors and coaches sales staff and recruiters for personal
and professional development.
Joe spends his personal time with his wife
and five children, and enjoys boating, the outdoors, and
community service.
